Pumpkin Week *MWF

This week was all about pumpkins!  We read Pumpkin Pumpkin, What Do You See, Pumpkin Eye and Spookly the Square Pumpkin. We talked about the life cycle of a pumpkin and the parts of a pumpkin.  We "gutted" our pumpkin and roasted the seeds.  Some of our friends like them but others did not.  When we finished cleaning out our pumpkin we used a wooden mallet to hammer golf tees into the pumpkin.  We learned the fingerplay 5 Little Pumpkins.  Then we used the letters in our name to create our own pumpkins on a gate.
We made a delicious dessert on Wednesday called No Bake Pumpkin Pie.  The recipe is in the pictures below.
Just a reminder that we have our pajama day on Halloween day.  Please no slippers.
Next week we will be talking about real and make believe.

Pumpkin Week! ***T/TR Class

This week was all about pumpkins! We measured pumpkins, we discussed how they grow, and the various things we can do with them (paint them, carve them, make pies, bake the seeds, etc.). We sang the song 5 Little Pumpkins. During circle, we read the Pumpkin Patch Parable and discussed how Jesus is the "light" and we can let our lights shine in the dark.
We completed a pumpkin life cycle activity during center time on Tuesday. I assisted with cutting and order, the kiddos did a great job following directions, and coloring :) We also decorated trick or treat bags for them to use during our pajama day activities on Tuesday 10/30.

We got to enjoy some sunshine and chilly air too this week :) Have a wonderful weekend!

Spider Week *MWF

This week was all about spiders.  We read the books The Itsy Bitsy Spider, The Spider and the Fly, and The Very Busy Spider.  We enjoyed playing on the giant spider web.  We learned the parts of a spider.  The new words we learned we're legs, eyes, abdomen, spinnerets and fangs.  We talked about how a spider catches flies in it's sticky web and wraps it up.  We played a spiderweb game where we threw "flies"(cotton balls) on to the web and tried to get them stuck.  We also danced to "The Spider in the Web" and "spider on the floor".
Next week will be all about pumpkins!
