Hibernation T/R Class

Hello Families!

This week, our topic was hibernation. We talked about what it means to "hibernate" and made a list of animals that hibernate through the winter. The class really enjoyed playing with sheets and creating our own caves in the classroom. We read The Bear Snores On, Time to Sleep, Over and Under the Snow, and Sizing Up Winter. We also did some dancing with our ribbons and played a game called "don't wake the bear". During art, we made bears in caves and decorated capital B's. Our class made a list of words that begin with B.

We continued to practice personal hygiene in class...lots of hand washing and covering our coughs. We are also working on independence with wiping/blowing noses. Please continue to reinforce these skills at home to help us keep our class healthy :)

We also had chapel with Pastor Chris this week. The kids enjoyed learning some classic songs such as Jesus loves me with sign language. Pastor Chris told read the Bible passage about Zacchaeus.

Next week will be all about snow - how it forms, snow activities, and of course melting snow.

Winter Week T/R Class

Our first full week back has been lots of fun! We enjoyed an unseasonably warm day Tuesday while discussing winter, seasons, and winter weather. We had ice in the touch table, created letters with "snowballs" and made our names with snowball letters.

Here are some photos from the week!

Winter Week MWF*

We are learning about winter this whole month but we began just talking about the season of winter.  We read the books The First Day of Winter, 5 Silly Penguins Slipping on Some Ice, and Time To Sleep.  We created art using shaving cream and glue to look like snow and we painted with frozen paint.  We had ice in the touch table with artic animals, scoops, tongs, and funnels.  We built igloos with sugar cubes and made fizzing ice using vinegar and baking soda.  We "ice skated" down the hall on paper plates.
Next week we will learn about hibernation and what animals hibernate.
With the upcoming predicted weather please remember if New Albany Floyd County schools are closed we are closed as well.  If they are delayed we are on regular schedule.
