Forests/ Woodlands Week * MWF

We want to thank everyone for such a successful conference day!
This week we learned about the forest.  We read the books Animal Tracks, Up In A Tree, and Who Lives Here.  We painted with pine tree branches, used forest animal figures to make animal tracks and painted with marshmallows.  We talked about what the tracks of several forest animals look like and played a game trying to figure out who the tracks belong to.  We also went on a bear hunt while listening to the song Bear Hunt by The Learning Station.
Next week we will be talking about our Grandparents.
Grandparent's Day is on Wednesday and the book fair will be in Murr Hall all next week.

Real/Make Believe *MWF

This week we talked about real and make believe.  We sorted pictures by real and make believe.  We created bead bracelets and our trick or treat bags.  We enjoyed playing with the sand in our classroom.  We also had the marble run out which was a hit!  We read the books Inside A House That Is Haunted, Twas the Night Before Halloween and Go Away Big Green Monster.  Our trick or treat practice was a great time and we appreciate the help from our parent helpers and all of the goodies that were donated.
Reminder: Bring in the slips for Grandparent's Day.

Happy Halloween, T/TR Class!

We had a fun and busy week in the Leaping Lizards T/TR classes! Thank YOU all for sending in goodies so that the kids could "trick or treat" through the school on Tuesday. It was fun to practice and show off their pajamas to the other classes too!

During our Oct. 30 celebrations, we wrapped each other like mummies, played musical chairs, sang our 5 little pumpkins song, went trick -or-treating and enjoyed cupcakes for a student's birthday. Throughout the week, we also read There was an old lady who swallowed a bat!, The Spider and the Fly, The Night Before Halloween, and Leaves. We reviewed the pumpkin life cycle as well as the 4 seasons - and they were all very surprised to hear today that it is now November :) Today we painted our hands and everyone enjoyed getting a little messy! We also worked on fine motor development with beads and pipe cleaners.

Notes: Please remember Nov. 6 there is no school and we will see you for conferences throughout the day! Also, a reminder will be coming out via email to send in those RSVP's for Grandparents Day on Nov. 15!

NEXT WEEK - On 11/8 we will read and do activities with The 3 Little Pigs story in honor of our upcoming Enchanted Forest themed book fair!

Photos of pajama day as well as today are below. Some of our wonderful trick or treat helpers included: Ms. Lisa B. in the TLC Office, Ms. Autumn and the Busy Bee's friends, Coach Natalie (our parent volunteer *thanks!), and Mr. Nathan who is the youth pastor for Trinity UMC.
