This week was all about spiders. We read the books The Itsy Bitsy Spider, The Spider and the Fly, and The Very Busy Spider. We enjoyed playing on the giant spider web. We learned the parts of a spider. The new words we learned we're legs, eyes, abdomen, spinnerets and fangs. We talked about how a spider catches flies in it's sticky web and wraps it up. We played a spiderweb game where we threw "flies"(cotton balls) on to the web and tried to get them stuck. We also danced to "The Spider in the Web" and "spider on the floor".
Next week will be all about pumpkins!

Spider Week! T/TR Class
This week we studied spiders! We discussed spider facts...
1. Spiders have eight legs
2. Spiders spin webs
3. Spiders can have up to eight eyes
4. Spiders eat bugs.
We sang the "Itsy Bitsy Spider" song and did a dance to the Raffi Song "There's a spider on the floor". We read The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle and The Itsy Bitsy Spider. The kiddos enjoyed making finger print spiders, playing with webbing, and making glitter webs. We also did some cutting exercises and practiced tracing their names. We got some nice outdoor time both days this week. It was a little chilly, but active 3-4yr olds never seem to mind! Please remember to send them with a warm coat and hat as the weather gets cooler :)
We are still in need of trick or treat volunteers and donations for Oct. 30th. Email me if you are interested and remember to please get signed up for conferences on Nov. 6th!

Fall/Leaves week MWF
We had a great time talking about fall and how the leaves are beginning to change. We had popcorn kernels in the sensory table with shovels, rakes and buckets. For creative art we used watercolors to paint coffee filters, used dry erase markers to draw leaves on trees, and put tissue paper on trees to make colorful leaves. We practiced writing our names and using scissors. We enjoyed the nice weather this week and spent lots of time outside.
When we return we will be talking about spiders. We hope you have a great Fall Break!

Falling Leaves **T/TR Class
Happy Fall Break! We spent this last week of school discussing seasons. We read Tap The Magic Tree by Christie Matheson, Falling Leaves, and Five Little Pumpkins. I will post the lyrics to the 5 little pumpkins song at the bottom if anyone wants to sing it with their child over break :)
We had corn in the touch table and took a walk to collect some fall leaves. We talked about the colors, changes of seasons, and described the texture of the leaves we found. We also learned how to make a leaf rubbing with crayons, leaves, and paper. The kiddos painted their paper plate wreaths, traced their hands, and glued leaves to the wreaths. They turned out really cute! We also worked on some cutting with scrap paper and did vertical chalk on the easel.
We had some beautiful weather for outdoor play and had a fire drill Thursday. The kids did great!
We are also constantly working on using our manners (ie "yes please" and "no thank you" and saying "thanks" when a friend holds the door for us). We also reviewed covering our coughs/sneezes with our elbows and washing our hands properly. We had a great week!
5 Little Pumpkins Song:
Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate,
First one said "Oh my, it's getting late!"
Second one said "There are witches in the air,"
Third one said "but we don't care!"
Fourth one said "Let's run and run and run."
Fifth one said "I'm ready for some fun!"
Ooo ooo went the wind, and out went the lights,
And five little pumpkins rolled out of sight.
